This electrical engineer had been relegated to wearing
a partial denture to replace the missing teeth on her
top jaw because over the years, her dentists hadnt
been able to find another solution. She had some very
serious problems with spacing (i.e. her right space
was less than half the size of her left space). If two
implants were done, they would appear completely asymmetrical
resulting in a poor result and she would still have
a huge gap in front. But two bridges would also have
a similar effect, because her midline was so far off
(nearly three millimeters, which is enormous in dental
terms). That would then create another problem in dealing
with huge gap in between the two front teeth. So after
careful work up with diagnostic cast and photos, I proceeded
to reduce the size of her right front tooth drastically.
I then performed an intentional root canal to accommodate
the pulpal exposure, and followed it by laser gum surgery
to move her midline to her left. Then two all porcelain
bridges were made and bonded. She was delighted.
