What to Expect During Your Dental Checkup

Teeth Cleaning

A professional cleaning removes buildup that brushing and flossing miss. We work gently above and below the gumline, polish your teeth, and share simple tips that fit your routine.

If you have sensitive areas, tell us. We’ll take our time.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays help us see what’s happening under the surface. These images help us spot things you can’t see in the mirror, like early cavities, changes in bone levels, or hidden infections.

Comprehensive Exam

Dr. Jensen checks your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw health. She uses an intraoral camera and Pearl AI support so you can see what she sees and understand your options in plain language.

Oral Cancer Screening

Every checkup includes an oral cancer screening to look for signs of cancer. It’s quick, comfortable, and gives you peace of mind.

How Often Should You Get a Checkup?

Most patients do best with a checkup every six months. If you have gum concerns, frequent cavities, or certain health conditions, we may recommend visits every three to four months.

We’ll help you find the schedule that fits your needs and keeps things simple.

Keep Your Smile Healthy Between Visits

Small habits make a big difference.

  • Brush twice a day for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste
  • Floss daily to clean where your toothbrush can’t reach
  • Drink water often and limit frequent sugary snacks and drinks
  • If you grind your teeth at night, ask us about a custom night guard

If something feels off between visits, call us. You don’t have to wait.

How to Find the Best Dentist Near You

Step 1

Choose a dentist who listens first

A great dentist doesn’t rush to “tell you what you need.” They ask questions, learn what matters to you, and build a plan around your goals. At Cherish Your Smile, we start with a real conversation, then we walk you through options in plain language.

Step 2

Look for a judgment-free approach

If it’s been a while since your last visit, you deserve a team that treats you with respect, not guilt. Dr. Jensen is known for calm, supportive care that meets you where you are—no lectures, no pressure.

Step 3

Make sure you understand the “why”

You should never feel confused about what’s happening in your mouth. Dr. Jensen uses photos and modern diagnostic tools (like Pearl AI support) so you can see what she sees and feel confident about your decisions.

Step 4

Find someone who values quality and consistency

Small details matter in dentistry, especially if you want work that looks natural and lasts. Dr. Jensen is meticulous by nature and holds every step to a high standard because she doesn’t take shortcuts.

Step 5

Comfort matters more than you think

The “best” dentist is often the one you’ll actually feel okay coming back to. From gentle techniques to comfort amenities and sedation options, we focus on making visits feel easier—especially for anxious patients.

Step 6

Choose a practice that feels welcoming

You should feel like you belong the moment you walk in. Dr. Jensen is proud of her Samoan heritage and loves serving Taylorsville’s diverse community with warmth, respect, and a family-centered mindset.
